Hello and welcome to Margin Scribbles, my monthly newsletter where I share updates on mahjong, art, events, inspiration, and life in Destin, Florida. I’m so glad you’re here!
Emerald Coast Mahjong
We had a fabulous time on launch weekend! I so enjoyed playing mahjong with friends, old and new. At the parties, I had everyone do a show of hands who came in from out of state and was blown away that more than half of the room made a special trip down for the launch. I don’t take that for granted one single bit and I’m so grateful to everyone who has been so supportive and kind. It feels vulnerable to create something and put it out into the world and being met with such enthusiasm feels like a warm hug. Thank you for that!
Thank you to our hosts Bitterroot and Camille’s and thank you Jamie Kamber for the fabulous photos! You can see full albums from each party at the links below. Feel free to download and post, and please tag me and Jamie if you do :)
The first online drop of my Emerald Coast collection sold out in one day (!!!) and I’ll be restocking just as quickly as I can. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you already know a good portion of my inventory arrived in damaged tile boxes from rough handling during shipping. The tiles themselves are perfect but many of the boxes have dented corners or creased lids. I was not planning to sell these, but after hearing from so many of you who don’t care about the box and just want the tiles sooner than later, I am reconsidering! Stay tuned for details on a “scratch n dent sale” in the next few weeks. 👀
If you tried to purchase a set online on launch day and encountered high shipping costs, I am so sorry! My website was supposed to automatically calculate and it seemed to be on the higher end for several folks. I have since changed the shipping settings so that tile sets are a flat $15 rate and mats are $10. If the shipping costs you paid seemed high on launch day, please reach out to me and I’ll take care of you!
My friend and incredible filmmaker Alex Shaw created a short film using real 16mm movie film and featuring my mahjong set and my fabulous friends, so if you missed that on Insta, check it out here:
Finally, I’ve officially got a PATENT PENDING on my racks with wave shape pushers!! These are on their way to me and I’m expecting to have them available next month, as well as a floating mat with my beach print and a couple more mat designs.
What I’ve Been Making Lately
This month flew by! I’ve been so busy launch party prepping and packing and shipping orders that I haven’t had as much time for creative play as usual, and most of the client work I’m doing is still under wraps. But below are a couple fishing T-shirt designs I’m currently working on. Hoping for more creative time in the months ahead!
What I’ve Been Loving Lately
Some things I’ve been loving this summer:
A Quick Trip to the Store - picked this story up at my friend’s new bookstore Book Club in Fort Payne, Alabama. This kids book is so cute and funny and relatable and we’ve been reading it over and over.
June Baby - I really enjoyed this audiobook - beachy summer setting, lots of family drama with twists and turns - great narrator. Leans more literary than commercial fiction but a really lovely summer read.
Mirth Pajamas - These are seriously the most comfy PJs. My mother-in-law got me some a few years ago for Christmas and I’ve been slowly replacing my whole pajama drawer with them ever since. They had a sale earlier this month so I stocked up. Light and cozy, they got softer with every wash.
Tomato sandwiches all summer long - highly recommend adding bacon and pimento cheese
Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket - after 6 years of eating gluten free at home (our oldest has celiac disease), I finally came up with a GF pigs in a blanket recipe and my kids have loved them! Recipe below 👇
Gluten-Free Pigs in a Blanket
Ingredients
1 package Sweet Loren’s gluten-free puff pastry
1 package gluten-free cocktail sausages
1 egg + 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Unroll the puff pastry directly from the refrigerator.
Cut into strips about 1 inch wide for mini sausages.
Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel so the pastry stays crisp.
Wrap each sausage with a strip of pastry, overlapping slightly.
Place seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with salt.
Bake 15–18 minutes, until deeply golden and puffed.

Spending our 4th of July in Huntsville as family of 4 despite the blazing hot weather (we got a front row view of the downtown fireworks from inside the hotel lobby and tried fun new breweries); traveling to the North Carolina mountains to visit family & get away, and taking my oldest to the dinosaur exhibit at the zoo. :)
Favorite 2026 Summer Memories (couldn’t choose just 1 😉):

•spending lots of time with my youngest daughter, who had an internship on 30A
•wedding dress shopping with both of my girls…priceless!!
